Hello, love! I’m so grateful you’re here! Welcome back to Boldly Courageous, a podcast created for you — the ambitious woman who is ready to take action and step fully into the life you’ve always dreamed of.
Let’s be honest — not everything turns out the way we want it to. Relationships end, business deals fall apart, and unexpected life events can change our current trajectories. During these times, it’s easy to lose our self-confidence in our dreams and resort to reacting to our circumstances instead of responding to them.
How do we sit calmly in the dark side of life? How do we work through the hard things instead of trying to move past them as fast as we can? Babe, when we take the time to process our lives and see how everything is growing us, we end up living in a much more aligned and abundant state. The question, though, is, how do we do this?
Today, I have one of my total boss-babe besties, Tara Romano, to teach us how. She is one of the most supportive, genuine women I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Tara is a seven-figure business owner and a network marketing expert who teaches women how to align with their inner confidence and own their imperfections. She is truly an inspiration.
In this interview, we talk about her journey to claiming self-confidence, sitting in the dark side of life, and how to live life truly unleashed. This is an episode you’re not going to want to miss, babe — there is so much wisdom here, and I can’t wait to share it with you!
Who Is Tara Romano?
Tara Romano built her seven-figure business and brand from the ground up focusing on one thing: CONFIDENCE.
Overcoming her own journey of self-loathing, feeling less than, and living hand to mouth, Tara realized that the only way to face her future was to carve a path aligned with the inner confidence she embodies through movement and showing others how to do the same.
In her most recent creation, the Your Life Unleashed Event, she helps women release what is no longer serving them, embody their powerful feminine energy, and take real action by connecting their minds back into their bodies. Tara helps women let go of their stories and self-judgments and supports them as they own the imperfections that truly make them amazing!
Through her Tone and Tease program, she encourages her clients to feel more empowered in their bodies, love themselves every step of the way, and show up in their most confident stance. Becoming a top leader in network marketing has afforded Tara the ability to lead and grow sales teams from an authentic place that makes each sale a relational one and not just a transactional one. She is a master at building communities of empowered women and showing others how to do the same.
Tara is one of the most real women I know. She’s had her share of struggles and challenges, but she’s also one of the most supportive women I know. I first met Tara at The Bliss Project, and she was teaching her signature Tone and Tease class. I remember thinking she represented the ultimate female goddess to me, and when I joined an Elite Mastermind a few years later, I was thrilled she was a part of it!
I truly admire how she shows up with vulnerability and authenticity — you’re going to love this girl! Let’s dive into our interview and discuss how we can all live our lives unleashed!
As I’ve gotten to know Tara, it’s been amazing to see the difference between how I perceived her vs. how she perceives herself. I’d always perceived Tara as this confident, radiant, successful businesswoman (and she is all those things), but she didn’t originally feel that way herself. She used to struggle with being a people-pleaser and was more concerned with what other people thought about her rather than her own identity.
“I never would’ve called myself a people pleaser in the past at all, but when I started going to like women’s events specifically, … this was true for me. I had this persona of who I was and who other people were. And I had been in this space for so long. … But during this time, I’m also learning about doing what feels good, like listening to your gut, which is something that I feel like I never really did because I’m such a go, go, go worker. … So for me, I needed to work on my confidence, my enoughness, [and] my moving through things..”Tara Romano
I love Tara’s honesty — it’s so easy to get into a people-pleasing mindset, where you don’t even think about what you want anymore. Instead, it’s all about “how can I impress this person? How can I get this person to like me and accept me? How many things can I say ‘yes’ to?” Babe, this mindset will only wear you out and take you further from your truth.
Tara recognized the effect that people-pleasing was having on her own body and spirit. She was always hustling to the point of exhaustion.
“I never had less than three jobs. I started working when I was ten years old. So hard work just comes innate in me. … And then I’m building my dance brand on YouTube, and people from literally all over the world are inviting me to their states and their countries. … I was like, ‘I can’t stop. How could I ever stop?’ I wasn’t grateful for what I had. … [Combined with] the fear [and] the work [ethic,] I was just like go, go, go.”Tara Romano
Tara was working solely in her masculine energy, and it began to take its toll. She was burnt out and was living in the constant fear that she would lose everything. At one point, she did three dance events in three different states in only 24 hours. Afterward, she broke down crying. Her self-confidence was suffering, and she realized that in order to get back into alignment with herself, she needed to slow down. She ended up canceling an event, and some women were angry with her, but she knew she needed to do something for herself.
“That was like the first time I stood up for something that I wanted, and I’m sorry it hurt [them], but it was what I needed to support myself.”Tara Romano
When Tara shared this story, I literally got full-body chills. I think that standing up for yourself is one of the most powerful things you can do — it shows other people that you are a woman who walks her walk, and it builds the trust you have in yourself to make the right choices. If you want to be more confident, it starts with listening to your body, tuning into your desires, and ultimately making decisions that are right for you. That’s not selfish — in fact, you help so many other women when you do this because you give them permission to step into their truth as well.
But what if you’re going through a really dark time, and you feel so out of alignment that it seems easier to just give up? If that’s you, babe, don’t worry — Tara had so much wisdom to share.
Tools to Navigate the Dark Periods of Life
It’s no secret that COVID-19 has placed a lot of people in difficult circumstances — physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially. Many women have been struggling during this time, and I know that for some, it’s been a really dark season. I was curious to hear Tara’s advice for women who find themselves in a dark period and some steps they can follow to help them work through it.
#1. Take a Break from Social Media
Social media is a great way to connect with other women (especially for all you network marketers out there), but sometimes, it’s really good to press pause on the feed scroll. This is exactly what Tara did when the pandemic set in:
“Sometimes I would struggle … writing content … because someone told me that I should be doing it, and this is how it should be done. And that’s why I took a huge break from social media and following people over this pandemic. … It’s almost like my body and spirit [were] like, ‘There’s no other way for you to do this right now, other than to stop because you’re not going in the directions you’re supposed to.”Tara Romano
Instead of producing content that came from her heart and mission, Tara felt the need to craft content based on the expectations of others. Do you need to take a break from social media and get recentered on your desires? Take time today to listen to your own voice — when we do that, we become more aligned with ourselves.
#2. Invest in a Coach
We all need help — no woman should be expected to figure out everything for herself. That’s why we form communities with each other for support, encouragement, and mutual celebration. And when we’re in a period of resistance and misalignment, investing in a coach takes this community to a whole new level:
“And whatever I was doing was just not making me feel good, so much to the point where I felt like a child throwing a fit — like nothing felt good. … So after a couple of months of trying to do that, I realized I’m like, I can’t do it anymore. … So I invested [in a coach], prior to me even creating financial stability. … I had done therapy since I was ten years old, but coaching was such a different thing for me. … It helped my brain in so many ways that I couldn’t imagine.”Tara Romano
Investing in a coach can be expensive, but it really is priceless. Tara had lots of business opportunities, but none of them felt worth it because she wasn’t aligned with her mission and hadn’t resolved some of her past trauma. External success is not nearly as important as inner peace, so Tara decided to invest in coaching (and even tried different coaches) so that she could do some shadow work and fully align with her soul.
#3. Stop Saying “Yes” to Everything
The final thing that Tara suggested was to stop saying “yes” to everything and learn how to say “no” to opportunities that 1) you don’t have time for or 2) don’t align with your mission. Tara shared about an opportunity she had to travel for her business — she originally said “yes,” but her soul was telling her something different:
“So much of me is like, ‘You’re not ready to travel. Like you just don’t want to be on a plane and [have] a layover. And I was really nervous to say’ no’ because I’m like, ‘No, I really need to connect with these people. They’re going to forget about me.’… [But] I literally canceled the date the day of, and … my whole body opened up, and it was so freeing.”Tara Romano
In the past 11 months, Tara has been given an opportunity to unleash herself in an even deeper, freer way. By using these three things, Tara is in a constant state of listening to her own truth and empowering women to do the same — to live life unleashed.
Living Life Unleashed Through Movement and Mindset
Tara used to compare herself to all the other women she saw at events — she would put them on pedestals and tell herself that she was nothing like them. Like me, Tara struggled with imposter syndrome and never felt like she could be good enough. But by investing in self-development, Tara began to realize that these limiting beliefs were holding her back and that she had the unique opportunity to help other women who feel like she once did.
“Being immersed in these events really transformed me. And then I started speaking at them, and I was like, “I need to connect with these women. And what other way to connect with them than to truly share how I was feeling?”Tara Romano
Tara’s authentic spirit opened the door for so many women to share their truth and live life unleashed. A lot of her work deals with promoting body positivity and teaching women to unleash their energy, despite any perceived imperfections:
“[In my classes,] I do affirmations. So like, ‘I’m fearless, I’m confident, I’m beautiful.’ And then we add movement to it. So even before the music comes on, you’re already in your body [and] you’ve taken the noise away from your head. You’re like affirming, and you’re moving. Any energy is like happening. Right. So then, after a while, … I would share my story, and then we’d move. … I was like, ‘Wouldn’t it be cool to have an event with mindset and movement?’ It’s just been my whole life for the past 10 years.”Tara Romano
From this dream, the Tone and Tease program was born. Tara incorporates sexy, high-energy dances in her program, along with life-giving affirmations, so that women can unleash their energy in a space where they’ll be celebrated and not judged for who they are! Using the power of movement and mindset, Tara is teaching women from all over the world how to live life unleashed.

I’m so inspired by Tara and so so grateful for the opportunity to have this conversation with her! I think Tara’s story really shows the importance of taking a pause in life and working through resistance instead of just powering through it. There is so much space for transformation when you take the time to get really comfortable with yourself and what you desire.

“If you look at my Instagram for the past few weeks, I’ve just been having fun. And it just feels good — just not to be afraid when the dark side comes because it’s just life and experience. Being here on this journey, like to experience what it is that you’re supposed to, … I’m not being attached to what it looks like.” – Tara Romano
I love that so much. Babe, let Tara’s words empower you to step into your truth and live your life unleashed, even in the middle of difficult circumstances.
